Guy Fawkes - Bonfire Night

Come celebrate 150 Years of Canadian History with an Old World British Tradition

Bigger and Better, was the promise following the overwhelming success and massive attendance at the first ever, local Guy Fawkes Bonfire Night held last year at the OAS Event Centre. The organizers are thrilled to be hosting the second year of this British tradition of family fun, food, bonfire and fireworks. The Orangeville Fairgrounds is the place to be on Saturday NOVEMBER 4, from 4:00 until 8:00.

The History

The event celebrates the capture and execution of Guy Fawkes in Britain in the 1600”s for trying to assassinate King James I and blow up the Houses of Parliament. On the very night of the foiled Gunpowder Plot - November 5, 1605 – bonfires were set alight all over Britain to celebrate the safety of the King. Since that time the event is commemorated every year with fireworks and burning effigies of Guy Fawkes on a bonfire.
